i'm more of a figure skater too, the only reason i picked up dance was to improve my posture, so because i've got the skaters bum and thigh muscles of steel my coach wants me to do my dances at ridiculous speeds haha, although in australia its impossible to find an ice dance partner so most people see it as a 'move up through test levels to get into the ice shows' thing. i'm mixed about the third program, but again i agree with you on the matter hahaAh, cool.
Yeah, I picked up dance to help improve my field moves. I got stuck at USFS Novice moves for several years. Finally finished them up and then got my Junior and Senior a few years back. I’m still trying to get my standard track Junior and Senior freestyles done though before my kneecaps fall off (I’m almost 30, good lord).
The only partner I’ve ever had for dance was my coach, who was awesome-sauce. Sadly, I moved away, but now I have an equally awesome coach who’s a technical specialist (never realised how bad some of my elements were until I started with him, heh).
Anyway, I’ll probably return to ice dance if/when I ever pass my last freestyle tests. I only got through Pre-Bronze before I shifted my focus elsewhere.
